It's nice to have a patch of turf in your yard, but it takes some planning in our climate in order to grow turf well.
Good preparation, smart planning with turf areas, using waterwise products and lawn varieties and
developing a good maintenance plan are keys to your turf success.
The turf varieties installed by Brad's Planet Landscaping are:
Couch is a long standing popular grass that is a good budget turf, with low upfront costs.
It is a hard wearing grass with a fine leaf, common for sports and is a favourite in Perth yards.
Kikuyu 'Village Green'
Village Green handles WA conditions. It is a waterwise grass and handles
It is soft, a lovely green colour and self-repairs. A mid-range price point for a tough, soft, green lawn.
Buffalo 'Soft Leaf Velvet'
Soft Leaf Velvet
Buffalo is a broad leaf buffalo. It
handles our soil conditions and shade areas quite well,
but does rely on
more water as opposed to Wintergreen Couch and Village Green Kikuyu.
Soft Velvet does not have the long string root system that grows on top
like other buffalo grasses.
Palmetto Buffalo grass performs well in full sun, yet thrives in shaded
areas where other grasses fail. A Palmetto
Buffalo lawn requires 2 to 4 hours of direct
sunlight. No grass can survive in extreme
shade, but Palmetto is better than others. Palmetto has
the best winter active growth, so it is less likely to
drop out in shaded areas in winter. Palmetto has a massive deep root system, making it more
drought resistant. Palmetto Buffalo Grass is an efficient
water user and it stays greener for longer in dry conditions.
Other turf varieties are available upon request. Turf can be installed quickly and we do recommend having a waterwise, high quality reticulation system in place. Assistance with applying for a water exemption is provided.
